Prerequisite: You must have accepted Quest:Preparing an Expedition  The Stave of Veluk-Zámok As you complete objectives, text is added to the parchment. To figure out where you are in the quest, go to the location below that has the first text that is not yet on your parchment. "Upon a mountain hill, the lonely peak to your back, a wyrm slithers by your side." At the top of Bizar-atrâd [35.1N, 39.6W] near the base of the statue "Upon a mountain hill, a sturdy bridge and island touched by our people, a gorged snake below." At the top of the hill in Thornholt [32.9N, 47.6W] near Radagast "In the perilous north, a dragon's horde glimmers in the darkness." Inside Glimmerdeep (landscape, not instance, [30.8N, 136.1W] Look around and click "Place of Conflict" a glowing area on the floor, very close by. Return to Hórin. (complete) Note, there are some shortcuts that involve other quests: This is where the battle must have been - The trigger location for Quest: The Tale of Borin is approximately [30.8N, 136.1W], near a small liquid filled depression. This location is also adjacent to a Survey Location for Quest: The Depth of the Problem and the location of the third Moon-rune of Veluk-zámok. The place of conflict [30.9N, 136.2W] is visible as you read the Moon-runes. NOTE: It is possible to end this quest while Hórin is still with you from the Quest: The Depth of the Problem, he will get a quest ring and you can complete this quest. If you have already completed The Depth of the Problem, Hórin will have left you and returned to Skarháld.

Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'Have you heard of the fabled underground realm, Thafar-gathol, the Grey Citadel? No dwarf has ever found it, but the lost realm is said to exist somewhere in these northern mountains. I have brought a moon-letter from the east with me. It is said this letter contains a clue as to the location of Thafar-gathol. The tale goes, if a great dwarf finds the Stave of Veluk-zámok, the path to Thafar-gathol will become clear. 'Here, you may borrow the moon-letter, if you like. I am at an end with this riddle. I am no closer to finding the Stave now than I was before I came to Ered Mithrin.' Background Hórin, a Zhélruka Dwarf tasked to dealing with outsiders, seeks assistance in deciphering an ancient moon-letter. Objective 7 Solve the parchment's third riddle You should read the moon-runes on the parchment. objective 8 Read the moon-runes The Stave of Veluk-Zámok lies here within Glitgróf, in the clutches of Etterfang. To seek the Stave is to seek Thafar-gathol. Beware. Look for a clue in the Glimmerdeep The Glimmerdeep can be found north of Skarháld in the Grey Mountains. You should examine the location in the Glimmerdeep mentioned on Hórin's parchment. PLACE OF CONFLICT "A place where a battle took place long ago between the Dwarf Borin and the Dragon Etterfang." It seems no dragon or its hoard remain here. Objective 9 Talk to Hórin Hórin may be in Skarháld or adventuring with you. You should talk to Hórin. Hórin: You tell Hórin how you followed the clues and learned the location of the Stave of Veluk-Zámok. His eyes widen. 'In Glimmerdeep, of all places, among the treasures of a dragon! Yet dragon and treasure are not to be found? And why not? Centuries upon centuries have passes. And yet dragons live longer than centuries . . . 'Perhaps, perhaps not all hope is lost.'
